چکیده

A Net Zero Community (NZC) concept and its energy characteristics are presented in this paper. NZC is an emerging topic with multiple variations terms of scope calculated methods, which complicates quantifying performance. This paper covers three key barriers achieving targets: (1) the main focus current definitions on buildings, disregarding community power systems use transportation; (2) different requirements (source, supply, metrics, etc.) existing definitions; (3) lack updated published reports to track progress committed targets. The importance research summarized as due increased savings primary greenhouse gas emissions related sectors, namely systems, transportation (PBT). To clarify NZC, reviews: criteria from peer-reviewed publications; latest climate projection models by policymakers achieve net zero 2050; literature renewable-based systems; (4) planned cases international locations, order study their targets, performance, challenges. outcome highlights design guidelines, including efficiency measures, electrification, renewables PBT sectors that help stakeholders policymakers, developers, designers, engineers speed up achievement

Analysis and Optimization using Renewable Energies to Get Net-Zero Energy Building for Warm Climate

Due to low energy price, economic optimization of consumption has no justification for users in Iran. Nowadays, the issue of ending fossil fuels, production of greenhouse gases and the main role of building in consumption of considerable amount of energy has drawn the focus of global researches to a new concept called net zero energy building. In this study, modeling, simulation and energy anal...

Net-Zero Energy Building Enhancement for a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum Educational Facility

In the United States, university buildings use 17% of total non-residential building energy per year. According to the NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory), the average lifecycle of a building in a university is 42 years with an EUI (energy use intensity) of 23 kWh/m/y. Current building and energy codes limit the EUI to 16 kWh/m/y for new school buildings; this benchmark can vary dependi...

Telework Adoption and Energy Use in Building and Transport Sectors in the United States and Japan

Telework ~or telecommuting! has been proposed as a way of reducing transportation externalities such as congestion and passenger vehicle energy use. While there is contention among sources about the secondary induced transportation effects, many studies have estimated net benefits as a result of transportation reductions. Analyses including effects from shifts in commercial and residential buil...

Grid-price-dependent Energy Management of a Building Supplied by a Multisource System Integrated with Hydrogen

This paper studies power management in a grid-tied hybrid energy system consisting of photovoltaic array, wind turbine, fuel cell, electrolyzer, hydrogen storage tank and a combinational heating system to supply the thermal and electrical demand of a building. Moreover, the hybrid system is capable of exchanging power with local grid. Thus, variable daily buying and selling tariffs are also tak...
